Description
The program starts with us taking everyone to the top of the trail network, there we will provide coaching and instruction as we descend through the trail network to the bottom practicing and refining these skills…. Then jump straight back onto the bus and head back up to do it all again…. and again!
Riders will enjoy heaps of descending along with relevant coaching guidance and demonstration, all while being driven up the hill in our shuttle bus after each ride down. It’s a great day out, all supervised by our PMBIA qualified coaches
All Gravity Groms Shuttle Bus programs are suitable for both boys & girls. These programs cater for upper intermediate -advanced MTB riders who can confidently descend intermediate trails at speed in a safe controlled manner.
For clarity: Advanced riders will be kids who race mountain bikes, are coached and ride several times a week and possess a genuinely strong set of high-end riding skills. Most of the riders in this group will be from our race team. This group will be for teenagers who are fast aggressive riders. Do not sign into this group unless you are certain this describes your child.
Upper Intermediate group: This group is for riders who can comfortably and safely descend advanced trails at speed.

Age requirements
While there is not a specific age requirement, this program will appeal to riders aged 10 -17 years of age but other ages are certainly welcomed. Please contact us to discuss prior to booking.
Skill Requirements
This is a Upper Intermediate – Advanced Program and all riders must select a group when booking, changes to groups may not be possible due to space on the bus.
- The advanced group is for highly skilled riders 12+ (other ages by agreement) and racers with high levels of endurance. To participate in this group your child will either be involved in one of Bike On’s advanced weekly programs, racing at competitive standard or otherwise able demonstrate a very high level of MTB skill. Please call us to discuss if you are uncertain which group is suitable. We reserve the right to move participants into the intermediate group if there are any doubts about their, or their bike’s, suitability for the advanced program
- Select the Upper intermediate group if you child is comfortable descending at high speed on intermediate graded (blue) trails at speed and in full control and can climb for 1km without dismounting. This program is for confident regular MTB riders
Bike Requirements
This is an Upper Intermediate – Advanced Program and the bike must be of a standard that doesn’t represent an unreasonable safety risk when riding at speed over rough terrain. A suitable bike will have:
- Functional front suspension (we strongly recommend rear suspension)
- Disk brakes.
- Correctly adjusted and well maintained gears
- Tires with a reasonable amount of tread
- 26″ wheels or greater (24″ wheeled bikes can be accepted in some circumstances, but please contact us to discuss prior to booking)
- Well maintained and serviced
While bikes do not have to be super high end, they must be well maintained and in good working order. Riders presenting with bikes with non-functional brakes or brakes that are poorly preforming (contaminated rotors for instance) will not be allowed to participate and no refunds will be given if you have not ensured your bike is in safe working order prior to arrival.
All programs come with free bike safety checks, conducted by Bike On which also includes free basic adjustments (excludes parts and labour costs to fit). We would strongly encourage parents to take advantage of this offer.
Other Equipment Requirements
The following protective equipment is compulsory for this program:
- A correctly fitting Australian Standards approved helmet – We strongly suggest a full face helmet
- Enclosed footwear – We strongly suggest MTB specific footwear
- Water AND a method of carrying it
- A tube that is suitable for your bike
We would also strongly recommend the following protective equipment:
- Full face helmet
- Knee and elbow pads
- Full finger gloves
Our friends at Venture Cycles offers all Bike On participants 10% of their range of bike helmets… and we can’t over emphasis the importance of a well fitted, good quality helmet!
Wet Weather & Cancellations
The event will run in wet weather unless it presents a safety issue so be prepared with appropriate wet weather gear if the forecast looks wet. If we cancel the event due to the forecast a full refund will be provided. There are no refunds if participants choose not to ride due to the forecast, however we may, at our discretion be able to arrange a credit for a future session.
Make an Optional Trail Care Contribution
Bike On staff participate in significant trail maintenance, especially at Gympie and Wooroi and we also pay land mangers between $2-$3 per rider per session (however unfortunately land managers don’t often use this for trail maintenance).
If you would like to contribute to the maintenance of the trails, there will be the option to add a small, completely voluntary one-off or ongoing contribution to your booking that will either be donated directly to local bike clubs or used directly by Bike On to deliver trail maintenance programs. If you would like to add this to your purchase you will find it added to your cart.
