What are “Self Guided Tours”?
We provide you with the same equipment and transport options as our guided tour guests, but instead of following at our pace, you will be free to explore the route at your own pace. Spend longer in certain areas, go faster through others or even take a detour!
You will receive a pre-tour briefing from our guides at the start point. You will be provided with clear maps and instructions. In addition to this, you will also have access to GPS assisted route maps via your mobile phone (requires the Google Maps app )
Self-Sufficiency and an Ability to Navigate: While these routes are reasonably simple to follow, they do require a degree of confidence and self sufficiency in navigation. We provide printed maps and for additional support, we give you access to GPS supported google maps’ routes, which require a charged phone with internet connection via the Google Maps app (not Apple maps)
Kayak Ability: This tour is conducted in generally calm and shallow waters, making it suitable for participants of all kayaking abilities. Children 12 and under must be accompanied in a double kayak by an adult.
Fitness: It’s important to note that participants should possess the stamina to maintain a consistent but relaxed kayaking pace for approximately 2 hours. Conditions may influence exact difficulty.
Ages and Heights There is no fixed age limit for this tour and our kayaks are adaptable to accommodate even infants. Children 12 and under must be accompanied in a double kayak by an adult. Please keep in mind that we are unable to accept unaccompanied minors under the age of 18.
